Rarely do international leaders have the courage to call-out the real problems faced by our world today. The world was in for a surprise when Pope Francis’ encyclical on climate change vehemently pointed out that capitalism, consumerism and the market frenzy lies at the root of climate change, poverty and inequality.

We can’t ignore the fact the Catholic Church itself has been a driver of poverty and inequality in the world. At the same time we have to acknowledge that the encyclical is full of bold and radical ideas. Ideas most world leaders are still afraid to acknowledge.
