It’s all about #seeds. A centuries old tree, a field full of crops, or a fresh sapling; all of them start with a seed. The fight to control food production is a fight to own the seed.
One of the many problems with genetically modified (GM) crops is that farmers don’t get the seed. They have to buy seeds from the multinational food corporations every sowing season. This is how corporations like Monsanto make a profit from the business of agriculture.
Food, farming and #biodiversity are linked to a tiny seed. The Great Seed Festival held in the UK in October 2014 was meant to spread awareness about the importance of seeds.
The final film in the #9×9 online film festival covers The Great Seed Festival. The film, A Festival of Seeds brings together some of most progressive voices in the UK’s movement against corporate food plutocracy. At the same time it beautifully sums up every thing we’ve seen so far in the 9×9 online film festival.
